Mike Eirinberg: Natural Area Observations Week 5

This week I went to a new natural area, the Parcourse Fitness Circuit. It is a calisthenics park in a natural area within Palos Verdes Estates, California. This area has many trails and a creek down the middle. The creek was dry when I visited. The landscape is coastal environment that is a few blocks from the ocean cliffs. The valley predominantly faces west. The soil is dry and chalky with better dirt near the creek. The following links are my iNaturalist observations of the vegetation I saw there. I saw most plants about a quarter of a mile along the main trail. There seemed to be more plant diversity closer to the creek. I saw lizards, birds, and a few black beetles.
