Finn was on a school trip to Branbury State Park, and we took the opportunity to practice iNaturalist. We took a few pictures in the seemingly rich forest surrounding the campground and Sucker Creek.
Thanks to all who helped with identifications!
At Branbury State Park campground. Many of these in flower behind site 25
Not sure if this is green ash or white ash, or maybe something else! Seems like an ash sapling of some kind, seven leaflets per leaf on all visible leaves. Habitat seems more consistent with White Ash - growing alongside road in Branbury State Park campground.
Stems roundish, leaves opposite. Not sure what this is, and didn't see a flower. Might be something quite common - I'm not really a botanist! Any help appreciated.
Found growing in campground at Branbury State Park.
Not completely sure, but seems like Alternate-leaved Dogwood.
Seen at Bradbury State Park campground.
I think this is a gooseberry; not sure which species.
Seen in Branbury State Park Campground, crawling across the road.
I'm not a strong botanist, but I think this is Fragaria vesca based on Go Botany information and habitat. But maybe it's Fragaria virginiana or something else. Any corrections appreciated!
Seen near Falls of Lana at Branbury State Park, in cleared out area near hydroelectric tube.
Spotted near the Falls of Lana at Branbury State Park. Many Canada Mayflowers in bloom there, even though it's now June :)
Spotted near the Falls of Lana at Branbury State Park. Just joined iNaturalist and practicing observations; not sure of the violet species, and may be hard to identify from the pitures.
