Description
A pair of peregrine falcons, first observed in the same locality during early 2019, hunting the tree martins which have roosted in the largest Manchurian Pear tree in Leigh St since 2013. This year the falcons began appearing in March, initially once or twice a week. By late April the pair began to appear nightly, perching on high buildings at dusk, waiting for the full flock of tree martins (conservatively estimated at 2,000 birds) to arrive in the tree, before swooping down to make their kills, consuming the birds, and then returning to their perch. The falcons seem to wait until the light is very low, although in past years they hunted earlier in the evening. Since 2013 the tree martins have roosted in Leigh St from very late December until late May/early June. Their numbers have peaked at about 3,000 birds, all roosting in the one tree.

Description
Seems unusual to hear Cicadas in my area. They seemed to be high in eucalypt trees.
Perhaps the distinctive ten or so repeated 'tzoo' sounds at around the 12 second mark are diagnostic;

Description
Rufous Night-Heron observed standing on the concrete plinth of a weir. Late afternoon.
Terrible photo, but I believe it's clear enough to see long white the breeding plumage trailing from the back of the head.
