Taxonomic Swap 90436 (Committed on 2021-03-27)

Malaisia Blanco, a monotypic genus with only one species, Malaisia scandens (Lour.) Planch., has been reinstated by Clement & Weiblen (2009) based on the molecular phylogenetic evidence.

The evolutionary relationship of Malaisia scandens in Moraceae is further confirmed by Zerega & Gardner (2019) with genomic data.

Clement, W. L., & Weiblen, G. D. (2009). Morphological evolution in the mulberry family (Moraceae). Systematic Botany, 34(3), 530-552.

Zerega, N. J., & Gardner, E. M. (2019). Delimitation of the new tribe Parartocarpeae (Moraceae) is supported by a 333-gene phylogeny and resolves tribal level Moraceae taxonomy. Phytotaxa, 388(4), 253-265.

How do you think?
Is this a reasonable treatment?

Thank you.

Why the change? POWO still classes this as Trophis scandens > http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:856795-1

What happens to Trophis scandens subsp. megacarpa (P.S.Green) P.S.Green? Is it now accepted as Malaisia scandens subsp. megacarpa P.S.Green?

Might be a good idea to email POWO as well so they can update their content, if they agree
Additionally, APC (and therefore ALA) still accepts Trophis scandens https://biodiversity.org.au/nsl/services/rest/name/apni/119237/api/apni-format
Until (if) POWO updates https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/taxa/705655/taxonomy_details should be updated as well
