For my week 7 natural area observations, I returned to my first natural area, Folsom Lake. I took a trail up through the hills near the lake, then went down to the shore of the lake. The water was stirred up and muddy from all the boats out, but it was still beautiful. All the grasses that lined the trail are starting die, turning the hillsides golden brown with the heat of summer. I think the coolest plant I observed was devil's trumpets. I had never seen them before and they look so alien; I loved it.
