For my third natural area excursion, I went to Placerville in El Dorado County of California, USA. There, I walked the El Dorado Trail for about 4 miles. The landscape is slightly hilly and primarily oak woodland. The soil is orange/red in color and clay-like, I believe it is something like gabbro soil. The vegetation is mostly oak trees, some gray pines, grasses, and a couple manzanita shrubs. El Dorado County is a very botanically diverse area. If you’d like to read more about it, I recommend you do so here at https://www.eldoradocnps.org/plants/ecology.
