Ava Schafbuch: Natural Area Observations Week 5

a. Locality: United States, California, Sonoma County, Petaluma, West Haven Park
b. Description: The landscape was surrounded by brown and green grass that was mainly flat, however, to the left side of the man-made path there was about a 45 degree slope down into a dry creek that had many blackberry bushes and thistle plants. The ground was dry soil and the trees varies, as smaller trees were closer to the sides of the path, but the larger ones were farther away from the pants down past the dry creek. To the right of the path, the land sloped upwards about 30 degrees, and the vegetation varied, but it was mainly grass, shrubs and trees with no visible fruit or flowers.
c. Path: I walked about 100 meters down the path, and I do not believe the trail had a name besides West Haven trail, but I did see a sign that said "protected natural area."
