Born, raised, and currently living on Payómkawichum and Ipai Kumeyaay land. Of Nahua and Ashkenazi descent. Webmaster for Cóyotlwiki, an online encyclopedia for ecology, philosophy, sociology, and adjacent topics. I have always been deeply passionate about the natural world, and I spend lots of time in the costal sage scrub. To me, ecological literacy and land stewardship are means by which I honor my heritage and kin, and I intend to continue this pursuit as I nurture my relationship with the land and its inhabitants, human and nonhuman alike.

I am an intern at San Diego Habitat Conservancy and a certified UC California Naturalist (Calavera Preserve class of ‘23) pursuing a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. I always have more to learn, so do let me know if I am missing important information in my observations. I may give you a coarse identification to narrow down your observation so that more knowledgeable IDers can better help you. I also mass ID taxa in the Southern California area as well as the taxa I’m especially familiar with worldwide— check my list titled “Friends” to see some of the taxa for which I ID. Currently also in the process of updating the United States checklist and adding additional names to taxa. Feel free to message and tag me as you please; I’m usually active every day. Do excuse me if I don't get around to your messages and comments; I get nearly 100 notifications per day sometimes, so I may accidentally overlook a few.

You have my permission to use my photos credited to my username and preferably with a link to the observation. Please send me any publications, posts, or events that feature my observations! It makes me happy to see my photos and data appreciated by others. My observations have been used in The Leaf Connection, an art project by Mary Meyer in collaboration with Metro Phoenix EcoFlora, ESL adult education curriculum available at OTAN.us, and various Wikipedia articles. Anyone with a passion for nature and sustainability is also welcome to join my chaparral themed discord server here.

Up until 12/12/22, all photos were taken with an iPhone 7, so forgive the variation in quality. If you know me irl/offsite no you don’t. Before you ask, yes I like Homestuck.
