Palm Warbler

Located the vagrant Palm Warbler in Summit County on Saturday. It was flittering about some willows alongside Silver Creek with a small flock of Yellow-rumped Warblers. Identified initially by a surprsing weak call. Proximity to US-40 and the Jordanelle highway made it too noisy for an audio sample.

Red Butte Bust

Expected to see/hear Lazuli Buntings in abundance, but no luck.

Lazuli Buntings at Red Butte

Lazuli Buntings were present in abundance. Good looks, but two events occuring at the same time prevented vocal recordings. I'll try again next week when I'm back in town.

Post-storm Dropouts

We've had a cool and wet May to day which has limited accessibility to the mountain trails. However, after this mornings stormclouds broke up I observed a Black-headed Grosbeak, Green-tailed Towhee and Western Tanager, three species that are rarely seen in the yard.
