Hazel Grouse **Tetrastes bonasia**

Finally saw it!
Graceful and agile.. sang a spring song.
Once it flew right above me.
Wow!
The sun rejoiced with me, the clouds parted and I enjoyed the blue sky.
Miracles happen when you don't expect their.

Foggy owl **Strix Nebulosa**

Lifer?
Lifer!
(A lifer is a life bird and the first time seeing one.)

An infrequent visitor in our area, the most charming cat! It seems to be what perfection looks like.

Accidentals feel different, brighter, more emotional and seem to have more weight on the scales of impressions. This is only yours, this is luck, this is intimate and fill with energy, this is honest.

In this case it is not possible to feel the joy of a seeing in full potential due to the context.
Still, this is a different kind of observation. There is no intimacy and that same quiet attention. The attention is rather intrusive, the contribution to science is questionable, 25+ people and you are one of them... someone lights a cigarette, someone has too much cologne, loud conversations, and someone has turned on a recording of a bird's voice, the man on the right asks not to take pictures with a flash , it becomes a little more comfortable.

I continue to reflect on this experience.

Horned lark *Eremophila alpestris ssp. flava*

oops I did it again…LIFER!

The current genus name is from Ancient Greek eremos, "desert", and phileo, "to love".
The specific alpestris is Latin and means "of the high mountains", from Alpes
flava is Latin and means yellow;

Didn't expect to see a horned lark
Was hoping for a snow bunting;

Wonderful larks fed on the newly exposed ground, the rain helped the snow melt.
Periodically flew over and formed mixed flocks with skylarks, and the whole field was swarming with starlings; lapwings preferred to rest, stock doves were taking a bath...

We had a second breakfast right by the road near the field, dranking tea, watching the birds, it was a miracle! Yep!

aaaaaand I celebrated lifer with a pancake mask...
