Prints left in the layer of algae crossing the creek at Cheatham WMA. Fairly large, five visible toes, about 2/3 my hand’s length and almost as wide (I have smaller-end hands). Looks almost bear-shaped, but bears aren’t ranged for this area, so it’s got to be something else. Seems too large and rounded to be a raccoon, and five toes rules out felines and canines.
Found new born kitten in a bush. Brought to SPCA

Alligators are extremely common, in Florida. Louisiana has a slightly larger population of alligators than Florida, but it is close.
