Description

Sorry for the gore. This was very sad, and something I'd never seen before. This large snapping turtle--a favorite of the neighborhood--apparently got entangled in some tree roots (2nd and 3rd images) in the stream during one of the recent rainstorms and drowned. I'd never heard of a turtle drowning, but that appears to be the case. A freak accident.
