First saw around 8 pm, sitting on top of a fence post, then again at 1am, when photos were taken. About 15m from the fence post on my patio. Seemed to be enjoying the rain & insects attracted by my inside lights, & perhaps the relative safety of the tall pot plants & containers (there are many cane toads about*). My property is located next to a wildlife reserve that is a known habitat of these froglets.
Side note: (*me and the dog did our best to run the cane toads out of the yard tonight, though! Our yard fence makes it tough for the bigger toads to get in, which seems to help the frogs. The froglet seemed decidedly unbothered by the big dogs, although it may have just been trying to stay still to remain hidden & I didn't let them close enough to notice it. I spooked it accidentally, taking pictures, and it jumped a little higher, so I quickly took the dogs inside & left him be, though I moved a few pots a little closer to him to provide some cover. Only observed him for about 2 minutes all up).
Wondering if baby Litoria gracilenta
Very dark because of stress
