35’-40’ up in the power lines. Late season December!
Black and yellow spider. Has roughly one in leg span. No noticeable hairs.
Web in Eastern Redbud.
This spider is pretty small about the size of a grain of jasmine rice, but leg tip to leg tip it’s probably 1/2- 3/4 inch. Banded legs and beautiful black markings on the abdomen. It was hanging in an open space on a gardenia bush. I had to hold a magnolia leaf up behind it to get my camera to focus.
Note the silk strands are not yet golden.
A shedding female. I’d never seen this before. At first I thought she was mating.
