White flesh bruises brown slowly.
Basal mycelium is white.
Odor not distinctive.
Taste is mildly sweet.

Very large plus spores are wider than for P. rhodoxanthus.

Field Notes - Old mushroom, but features still there. Large cap to 20cm, yellow gills down stem, cap is flattened to undulate.
Growing from remnants of a Scotch pine stump. Caps approx. 4 cm at maturity. Spores brown.
Caps 8-9 cm, yellow and somewhat fibrillose. Gills crowded, white with darker tinges from the milk chocolate-brown spores. Growing from dead hardwood.
