I have recorded this sighting as it is only the first or second time in more than 3 years that I have sighted a Magpie in my backyard. A Butcher-bird moved into the area a few years ago and deterred Magpies from coming into my backyard. Over the last six-eight months, Currawongs have also moved into the area and have frightened Magpies away from our front yard - we occasionally see one on the footpath. The Magpie seemed wither very wary or unwell and spent the first ten minutes or so in our yard looking to the sky but then settled down into feeding on worms in the grass. Good to see one back again.
