Second night in a row that we spotted this guy in the same location on the trail. Really hard to get even a halfway decent picture with my cell phone. Hopefully the giant eyes are enough to get an ID! Seen tonight at around 8 pm by the light of the silvery (full) moon (and my headlamp!)
My pictures are terrible since my cell phone couldn’t seem to handle my headlamp illuminating this skin. With the naked eye you could clearly see this skin was from a California King Snake. It was almost intact
Got a brief look at this handsome California King Snake tonight. It didn't stick around for long, hence my blurry cell phone pics!
I pulled this guy off my dog’s back on our hike earlier
We saw our first Arboreal Salamander of this Season yesterday evening walking through some leaf litter
Saw this very small, "baby" rattlesnake just off trail this evening around 8 pm. It was maybe 7 inches long and just had the little nub or button at the end of it's tail.
Up on the Chinquapin Trail. Elevation 1600 ft (~490 M)
