Description

Critically endangered subspecies M. o. bassanii (Southern Bentwing Bat), maternity chamber viewed live from the Bat Observation Centre. I later watched them fly out from the cave mouth after sunset but of course they were too small and fast to photograph.

The Australasian Bentwing Bat is usually listed as M. orianae with M. o. oceanensis being a subspecies, so I'm not certain of how this species is classified on iNat
