More likely red maple than sugar maple, judging by bark. Definitely not norway maple, buds are too sharp.
No idea on this ! Found on leaf litter under a hardwood log. Looked like fecal matter, but it was really tiny. If it was the letter S, the width of the letter was only about 5mm, so the total length when “unraveled” is like <15mm. Not attached to the leaf so far as I could tell
