Exciting new butterfly for the yard!
Did a little experiment today -- how many different things could I spot by sweeping with the net in one small area? The plant life is mostly Bermuda grass, Johnson grass, a few flowers...nothing spectacular. There's a creek nearby as well.
Ended up catching a few neat things! :)
This adult Cooper's Hawk was perched just outside my office window where it watched my bird feeder for a while. Shot taken through the window against the sun. Due to the bird's position I was not able to get a shot showing the tail, etc., but it is identifiable. Fairly large Cooper's, probably a female. Sharp-shinneds are not here this time of year.
This Gray Fox seems to enjoy napping on the 200 foot long section of sidewalk that runs from our house to our workshop. When I got up today I saw the fox there. He/she looked at me and yawned...image 2. I guess I was not all that interesting!
Spent more time looking at bugs that came to the blacklights.
