Heathland. Prostrate, spreading habit. Bark rough. Flaky, peeling. Leaves very pungent. Follicles, 4 valves.

Right hand tree. (Other is Swamp Mahogany.) Trunk: part bark brown/grey first couple metres. Grey smooth above. Grey part doesn’t feel powdery.
Leaf: lanceolate, slightly discolorous, slightly asymmetric on petiole, length 12-13 cm, petiole 2 cm.
Fruit: conical, valves mostly 5, exerted, turned inwards
Flowering: now (July), white / cream flowers. Lorikeets (3 species) feeding. Axillary, unbranched.
Buds: max seen 7 in umbel. Greenish/yellow. Scar present. Operculum beaked.
Nuts appear sessile. Undivided part of leaf equal or less than divided part. Leaves not pungent, not at R angles to stem.
Leaves 7.5-16 cm in length, possibly higher ones are longer.
