70 microns long without the appendage
Growing (along with three other clusters) on the top of a decaying eucalyptus log. After a period of reasonable rain, and lots of warmth.
In creek from a small pool above a riffle
ID is just my best guess, corrections very welcome.
Water sample origin: A plastic bucket of decomposing plant matter and rainwater. Water is "fresh" (as in: it's not seawater), and very stagnant.
Most of these observations have corresponding videos to show the organisms' movement patterns.

From freshwater somewhere in/around Edmonton.
Sample has been collected 7 weeks ago. Microbes have been concentrated using blue ribbon filter paper before observation.
