5 brown birds with eye masks; very skittish; moved a lot, so difficult to photograph; flew away when shaddow of cliff coming over seaweed on beach....and me nearing some 20m away. Bigger than sparrow and too light coloured to be starling.
Eating bugs off seaweed on beach *outgoing tide.
Flew off towards Bath St Reserve, Cheltenham Beach, NZ
