Pappus of long scales (photo 3), wider phyllaries than P. callosa
Several specimens were found in the wooded area between JD Creek West Fork and the northwest end of Dodder Loop Trail. Soil mapped as fine sandy loam. Flowers purple. Associated plants include Toxicodendron radicans, Ilex vomitoria, Quercus marilandica, Carex cherokeensis, Galactia regularis, Hypericum hypericoides.
Lots of San Saba Pinweed around, which it seems to associate with often.
Specimens were found in full sun in the open grassy area along the northern portion of Dodder Loop Trail. Soil is mapped as Tabor fine sandy loam. Associated plants include Paspalum plicatulum, Paspalum notatum, Palafoxia rosea, Bradburia hirtella, Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Ilex vomitoria

saw female plant here last year, but plenty of male blooming plants this year.
