Two snakes appeared to be mating. Thought they were rattlesnakes from a distance, but upon further review fairly certain they were gopher snakes.
sunning in the parking lot at 5:30pm, had what looked like an old injury to lower spine before vent. probably about 12-13 inches total length
I know nothing about the fishes in the area, putting this as the placeholder because it’s the only fish observation from this pond
Small snake med iridescent brown pointed tail and nose wont strike no fangs seems to be harmless but dont want my son to mess with it until i know for sure
Not sure on the i.d. but based on seeing Great Basin Spadefoot Toad tadpoles in NV, these have a similar iridescence. The pond had little water with some emergent vegetation. Water seemed pretty stagnant.
Stripes on back, spots on legs?
Found in gutter on first real rain of the season. Moved out of road.
