Keys easily to D. boreale in Flora of the Chicago Region. Spikelets are 1.9-2.0mm and the Mohlenbrock key breaks at 1.0-1.9 vs 2.0+ mm; following the key assuming 2.0mm (instead of 1.9mm) this also keys to D. boreale in Mohlenbrock Flora of Illinois. D. boreale is reported from this natural area. Overall plant fairly glabrous & leaves clasping/subauriculate (see my worksheet for all recorded characters). I’m not sure what Section of Dichanthelium D. boreale falls into - the FNA site is down. Reviewing characters highlighted on MN Wildflowers, a number of characters discussed do not fit (namely panicle of 40-200 spikelets - my plant had like 12-15). https://www.minnesotawildflowers.info/grass-sedge-rush/northern-panic-grass
