Pocket gopher mounds scattered under longleaf pines on a sandhill site revealed by a prescribed burn.
I have no idea what these bones are. I found them on the bank near the creek. It looks like some sort of jaw with a couple of teeth. I'm really not sure what it could be.
This appears to be a lobelia. In looking at other lobelias they come many to a stalk and the stalk are thickly. This one that I photographed has a delicate, perhaps 5" tall stem with at most 3 flowers on it. Can anyone ID?
