My first encounter since being back from my epic Ecuadorian trip and to have it on the 1st day of the new year is very cool.
This was a very interesting find. I put my hand on said trunk to keep my balance and immediately a small cavity dwelling bird flushed. So us curious naturalist looked in and saw that 2 small brownish bird eggs were present. Pretty pattern and my hope is that an avian specialist will help with ID. The shot is clear and even expanded so I got the best I could.
Probably the most common raptor we encountered. Almost an everyday sighting for this hawk. Confirmed be guide and other participant. As typical for down there, lighting was crummy.
