Sampling location: The soil sample was collected from the bank of a pond on the Bagaryak River, near the water. The soil was wet but gradually dried out.
Date and time of collection: September 8, 2023
The sample was stored in a sealed glass container at room temperature.
On October 23, 2023, at 11 AM, a small amount of this soil was mixed with clean water.
Date and time of observation: October 28, 2023, at 11 AM

Pseudopediastrum boryanum (Turpin) E.Hegewald 2005

Diagnosis of the organism observed:
• coenobium star-shaped, flat and single-layered
• diameter coenobium up to 65 µm
• coenobium of 32 cells
• marginal cells ~10 µm
• inner cells concentrically arranged without intercelluar spaces (Except for one intercellular space, which I think is an individual feature of the observed cenobium)
• marginal cells bilobed with a notch between the lobes
• single pyrenoid
• small warts are present on the contact surfaces of the cells
• a delicate pattern on the surface of the cell
