VERY HANDSOME LITTLE GUYS! Venturing into my very wet rainforest I found this rather small and bedraggled colony of fruits. Many had stalled but quite a number have managed to complete their life cycle.
This looked like a new one for me but have had it confirmed as Physarum melleum. I have found a very yellow version of this before that is also uploaded here on iNat. They do look completely different.
This has been a very rewarding series of images to complete as I think it is a very photogenic subject! Just love the tan / orange hues!

Very small Plasmo about 13mm across , egg yolk yellow so slightly denser yellow than the usually larger ones. Lovely grey white Asco there as well.

Quite an interesting journey here... I collected Gidgee Tree remnats from around the current Tip (refuse dump) in Nov 2020. I wrapped them in plastic and then back in my home town placed bark samples in my Slimarium in July 2021. These fruits grew within one week. I tracked their evolution and it has been a collaboration of minds across the globe who have finally circled to Physarum decipiens. this has been an extraordinary exercise and I have some other myxos to add to my desert tally...
