There were, I suspect, on this occasion in this spot females of all three species found in 7th Brigade park - superb, variegated and red-backed - but I am not sure which are which... all foraging in long (weed) grass, coarse woody debris, and a ridiculously-tiny patch of planted habitat adjacent to a more extensive and denser lantana-and-wattle thicket which is one of their strongholds/ refuges. I am dividing the photos I took into sets based on a rough guess of which bird is which; I may well be wrong...This little corner - INCLUDING THE WEED THICKET!! - is critically important habitat for fairywrens in this particular park. I didn't see any males.
