Just before I took this photo, this bird landed on a fence top next to a California towhee. I was watching a male hooded oriole back and forth between a couple of trees, this fence, and plants in the field behind the fence. Is this a female hooded oriole? It appeared to have captured a caterpillar.
Eight white pelicans, apparently feeding. It appeared that they were reaching down close to the bottom since they were coming up with some plant material, but I don’t know what they were to eat. Often, several of them dipping their heads at the same time. Seven of the pelicans were together and then one was apart from them, at times perhaps 100 yards away from them.
