Juvenile. Approximately 9 inches.
My lifer Mojave! This one was so tiny I couldn’t really pick it up off the road with my hook, so I had to corral it off the road as best as possible. Meant I didn’t get any good pictures, but I wasn’t about to let them die just for a photo. My lifer must live!
Dude, I’m not gonna lie these are becoming my favorite snake they’re so chill. I need to set up my nice camera with a strobe so I can get a really good photo session next time
DOR neonate
Holy Jim Canyon just off to the side of the trail crawling on leaf litter. This will always be L. zonata pulchra to me.
Separate observation for the roadrunner. The snake was beaten to death and eventually eaten whole, headfirst.
I found it while herping at night. It made some slight movement which I initially attributed to wind. However, I decided to investigate anyway and saw it on the side of the road. I think either sidewinder or speckled rattlesnake baby
