Thousands washing up on the stony beach
Several individuals of the large Cannonball or Cabbage Jellyfish, Stomolophus meleagris, were observed at Copano Bay during a research cruise to study oyster health. The photos are not clear but there were several dozen jellyfish near one of the stations.
The jellyfish were about 20-25 cm (8-10 in) long. This is a common species found in bays and nearshore in Texas.

Shell had washed ashore - Superstorm Sandy had moved quite a bit of debris around this landscape.
The semi-clear/ blue plasticky looking object. They wash up by the dozens. Ignore the kelp/sea weed.
Anyone? It was about the size of a quarter.
