What is this? The body looks junco like, and there were several around, but its face is white.
Gray Bat at Nickajack Cave. There are estimated to be over 100,000 gray bats in the cave. It was amazing to watch so many bats fly out at once. hope white nose syndrome doesn't get in there.
I thought this one looked odd so I looked it up. This was the only thing that I felt matched it. I think it was living in a fallen tree next to the trail. It would run down to where a bunch of plants were growing, grab a big mouthful, run back up the hill, come back and repeat. It didn’t seem to mind me being there so long as I was quiet. I probably watched it for a good 10-15 minutes. Eventually I moved along down the trail, and I found the opening of the hollow tree, filled with the plants it was collecting, which is what the final picture shows.
Never seen a pillbug get caught by a spider before. It looked like it was wrapping it up, went to get a better camera, came back and it had hauled it up somewhere I couldn’t see. Really cool sighting!
Zebra jumping spider hunting what I think is a lynx spider. It almost caught it, but the lynx spider noticed it and let out a line of silk to escape.
