Sugar Pine (Pinus lambertiana)

Description

I believe this to the the general location where David Douglas "discovered" the sugar pine, which would make this the type locality for the species. Of course this pine was already known to the native people, and quite likely they were managing the landscape for pine seed production. Interestingly this site is outside the limits of the species's geographic range as documented by Elbert Little.
