Captured along the Ramparts trail at Cedar Breaks Nation Monument. Many of these flowers were in bloom, but this particular specimen has a much more vibrant pigmentation!
Was filled with spores. I kept the sample if anyone wants to ask me for any additional photos for IDing.

Verified ID of a Coast Douglas-Fir by Forest Service (entry in their Big Tree Registry).
Lots of small branches that looked alive were on the ground around the tree. I assume the weight of the branches coupled with the high winds Tahoe has received in recent days contributed to them snapping off.
Didn't notice the big Eagle/Osprey nest on top until I was walking back from my hike (hence the darker photo at the end).
Approximate location. North of the actual Logan Shoals Vista down on the old Lincoln HWY trail.
The knife handle is 4.75 inches long.
