Bryja et al 2019 (doi.org/10.25225/fozo.030.2019) accept two species of Lemniscomys for Ethiopia: macculus and zebra. These species were listed as L. striatus and L. barbarus, respectively, in the Catalogue of the Mammals of Ethiopia (Yalden et al 2013, doi.org/10.1080/03749444.1976.10736830). L. macculus has 4 pale stripes on each side and they are interrupted with spots, whereas L. zebra has more stripes and they are not broken into spots (compare pelages of both species in http://archive.fieldmuseum.org/tanzania/SkinKey.asp?catalog=2&setion=27&key=48).

Made a ruckus like a large rat, then came into bedroom from drawers under bed. Left large scat.
UPDATE: Murrayfield Station.
Not entirely sure of location now, was on a UTAS field camp at shearing quarters on North Bruny? If you know where that might have been let me know.

A green chiton attached to a half crab. We observed this alien looking commensal beast while undertaking an intertidal survey on the reefs off Hawera. It made us jump when we first turned over the rock.

Description
Soaked from the foggy morning. Uncommon colouration, but coat colour is no longer considered a good indicator of dingo purity with around 5% of dingoes naturally being black. Dingoes in the Northern Territory are very pure and therefore it is likely this one is too.
