Description
Morphological analysis yielded inconclusive results as to what species this is. It is completely different than other Percina spp. in this area, and I have been unable to capture another specimen that looks like this.
This likely represents a hybrid, either P. caprodes x P. copelandi or
P. caprodes x E. olmstedi.

Description
Growing on Miocene sandstone (Zayante).
Diagnostics:
• erect shrub lacking a basal burl
• short AND long glandular hairs on the ovaries
• long, foliaceous inflorescence bracts covered in dense canescent hairs and short glandular hairs
• glaucous leaves covered in short, canescent hairs
• unifacial leaves with stomata on both surfaces
• glandular-hairy fruit
• auriculate leaf bases; some clasping, some with short petioles (less than 4 mm)

This was the last sighting of the night at approximately 11:21 pm. At the time of the sighting, the salamander was spotted near on the side of a trail. During the night, it was around 60 degrees with constant heavy rain.
