Discovered this small snake as I was yanking English Ivy off a Sugar Maple tree in the front yard. My camera was in the shop. I considered picking the snake up and taking it to the shop, but decided it would likely not be smart enough to move on while I was gone. Glad I didn't try to pick it up. When I started to manipulate it into a better position, it struck at me and made me flinch.

All these beetles seem to be dead and are also glued to the underside of a Common Milkweed leaf. Anyone know what's going on here? Commenter on another platform says parasite. Is that correct?
