Russet Scaly Tricholoma (Tricholoma vaccinum)

Description

Young fruiting bodies beneath Sitka Spruce.
Deep chestnut brown tones throughout.
Stem: densely scaly.
Cap: Scaly, especially toward disc.
Dry(not viscid) conical at this young stage. Would be umbonate at maturity.
Deeply incurved cap margin(especially youngest specimens) with wavy corrugated patterned edges(cottony at edges).
Gills: creamy white/very light tan.
Odor: pleasant, slightly fruity.
Taste: slightly bitter.
Harvested 4 specimens.
Spore printed separated sections of cap directly on a glass slide for spore microscopy.
Spore Print: white.
Spores: Broadly ellipsoid, smooth. Small.
Dehydrated all specimens and bagged for herbarium collection/genetic record.

Description

Fruiting on a Sitka Spruce stump.
Partial veil remnants.
Ventricose striate stems.
Odor: fruit loops cereal(sweet/fruity).
Harvested a single specimen.
KOH to cap: reddish brown. See images.
Spore printed a portion of cap directly on glass slide for microscopy.
Spore print: rusty orange/brown.
Spores: ellipsoid, roughened. Medium-large.(see image of spore microscopy dry).
Mounted a section of the spore printed slide in KOH.
KOH: spores ocher brown in KOH. See images.
Dehydrated specimen and bagged for herbarium collection/genetic record.

Description

Inocybe lacera Group:
Single mature fruiting body beneath Pinus contorta. Harvested specimen.
Scaly, floccose umbonate cap.
Slightly scaly stem, tapering at base. No bulb.
Spore printed a portion of cap directly on glass slide for microscopy.
Spore print: brown.
Spores: long-elliptical to cylindrical. Side laying spores very thin/slightly irregular.
Dehydrated specimen and bagged for herbarium collection/genetic record.
