Description
On wall beside footpath.
Female in process of laying eggs - the first time I have observed this process.
The protective egg casing still appears soft and 'foamy'.
Not sure what the various parts in play/sight are. I'm guessing the two small, shiny, green things at the very rear of the abdomen, adjacent to the egg casing, might be eggs which are inserted into each segment of the casing as it is formed.
There is a small, thin, 'feeler' like appendage which appeared to be waving around and which might have been somehow helping with the process.
Then again......

Noticed a NZ female praying mantis mating with three males. Walked past 10 mins later and she'd caught a butterfly and was eating it. Nice multitasking!!

Obs for the right ootheca (egg mass). The left one looks like a South African ootheca (Miomantis caffra)? Both on the underside of a magnolia leaf.
