After the fox noticed me, it disappeared in the burrow, which is is shown on the very last picture. Previously I observed this burrow being used by a groundhog. Looks like the fox occupied the groundhog's burrow! The next morning when I came to check on the fox, the groundhog that was grazing nearby and attempted to hide in the burrow upon seeing me, entered and immediately left the burrow, as if having forgotten for a moment that it was stolen by the fox.
