Description
Strange red growth (?) on old pitch flows from woodpecker holes on an old Douglas fir tree. I honestly don’t even know what kingdom this belongs too. I think it might be a crustose lichen? But I could see it being a non-lichenized fungi or even something totally different like a slime mold.
