This egret - nicknamed Frank - likes to hang out around restaurants in Clearwater. He prefers to eat eggs and has no preference as to whether they're scrambled, fried, poached, etc. He doesn't like sausage, bacon or most other meat.

This wayward young crane bonded with us and us with her. She followed us on island surveys, and if we started digging around in vegetation, she would come "forage" with us and eat stirred up beetles. She also ate lots of mice during her stay. Our friend eventually departed the island.

Very hard to make out on this crappy iPhone picture. I saw the crane clearly through binoculars as it flew over the beach at Drake’s Beach. Numerous reports of SACR have
been made on eBird in this area since the beginning of April so it is not a complete surprise to see this rare (for here) bird. i noted long wings, outstretched neck, long legs, gray color overall with red crown patch
