This is the second sighting for me for this obviously gold-dominant carpenter bee in the RGV. Is it possibly this species? This one was visiting flowers of the guayacan bush in a replanted part of Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge by volunteers in 2015. The first I saw was ca. May 2013 or 2014 when trimming back dead wood from a residential guava tree damaged by a previous winter freeze event.
