Description
A truly amazing encounter with one of the world's most enigmatic ungulates. When I first saw this Pygmy Hippo, it was resting on the ground a few meters off the trail, covered with sweat droplets. After about an hour of waiting, it got up and slowly walked through the forest. It did not appear to mind my presence.

Found 1 very unique juvenville P. regilla (potentially an albino) amoung hundreds of other junenvilles, all at the edge of one of the experimental ponds.
Found around 6pm.
None other of this kind were observed.

Description
Finally, something that gets me excited about Bullfrogs again...
I stopped for a Spring Peeper, and then noticed a yellow object with a red reflection, a ways down the road. I assumed it was some trash, and then realized as I got closer that reflection was an eye shine.

Description
A green chiton attached to a half crab. We observed this alien looking commensal beast while undertaking an intertidal survey on the reefs off Hawera. It made us jump when we first turned over the rock.
