I'm pretty sure this is a male based on it's size. If there are any doubts to that, please tell me.
Interesting observation given such a large prey for such a small raptor; when a wild turkey happened along and spooked the hawk, it was able to pick the quail up and fly off with it. It didn't get above a few feet off the ground, but it was able to fly pretty fast for about fifteen feet before it left my sight. Impressive given that their weight would be about the same.

在溪溝附近活動，發現時隱身在水同木樹葉後面，有看到角。以嫩葉為主食，特別喜愛有乳汁的植物。看到這隻台灣野山羊不久後在往前，有一隻小山羌跑到較陡的山壁下，一時無法脫困，我靠近時就脫困離開了，只驚鴻一瞥，來不及紀錄。感覺最近山羌變多了。

被路殺，今天發生最難過的事，依路殺調查程序做完拍照上傳，下山時採集裝袋裝箱，採集時發現身體已變僵硬且有蒼蠅循臭味而來，不若剛發現在路中間時柔軟溫熱，請伙伴犀牛幫忙到統一超商寄冷凍宅急便到特生中心。建議該道路主管機關應設置注意動物告示牌，用路人通過時應減速慢行，避免再次發生憾事。

難得這麼近的距離可以觀察牠，因為牠正在專心地吸著矮仙丹花的花蜜。雄蝶翅膀表面具淡藍色放射狀條紋，翅基具橙紅斑。八八風災後，茂林原鄉透過蝴蝶生態保育再次恢復生機，我想這是與生態共生共榮的例子之一。

過境鳥，被有心人士以麵包蟲及佈景方式誘拍。「或許餵食野生鳥類，可以獲得動物親近的機會。但過度依賴人類供給，容易讓鳥類在野外覓食的能力減弱，且野生鳥類身上或許帶有傳染病源，人類過度親近，難保不會帶來不可預測的危險。」我覺得誘拍也是一種人為的干擾，此風不可長。

剛好在在白石吊橋一端的下方，典型的殼斗科植物。種子富含澱粉，是松鼠類動物的最愛，台灣黑熊也愛吃。但近年遭人為過度採集種子，有生存危機。

在林道上，聽到急促尖銳的叫聲，由遠而近，突然有一隻山羌在眼前的林道出現，然後又往山坡上奔跑，牠被周圍的3~4隻黃喉貂獵殺。在我面前追逐了兩次，最後只聽到上方山林傳來山羌的陣陣哀嚎聲，感覺已被制伏了。

有3~4隻在獵殺1隻山羌，有的在後面追趕，有的在樹上埋伏跳下，第一次在現場看到兩種四隻腳的哺乳類上演攻防戰，而且兩者體重相差甚大，但在生態位階上還是黃喉貂勝出。
