Description
An undescribed taxon similar to U. chrysantha but distinguished by it's much shorter scapes, fewer blooms, smaller blooms and peach-tangerine colour. Grows alongside the standard tall, yellow form of U. chrysantha near Mt Tozer. Last three photos compare the two taxa.

Description
This poor raccoon was all sorts of effed up. Front leg looked straight up rotten. Like what you'd imagine a decayed leg on a dead raccoon in the street is what this guy's front leg looked like. And he was missing his eye on the same side. Maybe that was a coincidence, maybe not. This all made me very sad. His front leg was real mangled and he was having a hard time getting around. He walked across the road, across a couple bike paths and into a lightly wooded area, perhaps to die in peace? I'm not sure.
The last few images were taken when I spotted it as we were driving by. It was lurching forward with its back super arched as it more or less waddled across the road with a really nasty limp.
I called the DEC who directed me to a local rehabber who was no longer in service. I called some other people and tried to find literally anybody who would do something but no dice. I think rabies vector animals aren't really taken kindly to by a lot of rehabbers or other animal workers so I'm not sure anybody in the area would've been able to help or had the licensing to do so.
I hope he's okay but I know he's probably not.
RIP (maybe).
