Cooloola Bioblitz Update

Hello to all,

I just wanted to make sure you all know how we are doing if you haven't looked at the project page. As of this moment we have 362 observations, 162 different species contributed by 22 different people. There are 7 folks that are following the project and haven't uploaded any observations. Of our 362 observations 80 of them are listed as research grade, 270 need additional IDs to convert them to research grade. Nearly all have photos and only a handful don't have GPS coordinates.

Now, related to GPS coordinates, there are a few observations that obviously have crook coordinates, like in the water off the coast. Please take a look at your observations and see if one of the crook coordinates is yours. It is easy enough to drag the pins to a new location much closer to where the actual observation took place. Give it a go and see if you can adjust them. If you need assistance just let me know.

The next thing to consider is whether you gave your observation a species name. At a minimum, you can call them plants, animals, fungi etc... It is important that you provide some kind of name at some level so that the observations will show up in searches. There is no filter in the search engine that will find records without some kind of species name so other scientists/citizen scientists won't find them with searches.

Lastly, if you are passionate about a specific kind of organism and enjoy making identifications, you can login and go to our observations and make an id to help us get as many research grade observations as possible.

Thanks for all your help in making this Bioblitz a great success.
